What Blood Tests Can Be Done at Home? A Complete Guide

Updated: Jun 1

One of the most common questions we hear: 'Can my specific test be done at home?' The short answer is: almost certainly yes. Mobile phlebotomy is specimen collection, the same blood draw process your doctor's office or a Quest Patient Service Center uses, just performed at your location. Here's a breakdown of what's available.

Routine Health Panels

These are the most commonly ordered tests and are fully supported during a mobile blood draw:

  • Complete Blood Count (CBC), checks red and white blood cells, hemoglobin, platelets

  • Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP), kidney function, electrolytes, blood sugar

  • Comprehensive Metabolic Panel (CMP), liver function, kidney function, electrolytes

  • Lipid Panel, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides

  • Thyroid Function (TSH, Free T3, Free T4)

  • Hemoglobin A1C, long-term blood sugar control for diabetes monitoring

  • Iron studies, ferritin, TIBC

Hormone and Wellness Testing

Secure Draw Mobile works with 50+ specialty and reference labs, making comprehensive hormone and wellness panels fully accessible at home:

  • Testosterone (total and free), estrogen, progesterone

  • Cortisol and adrenal function panels

  • DHEA-S

  • Vitamin D, B12, folate

  • Food sensitivity and allergy panels

  • Gut health markers

  • Inflammation markers (CRP, ESR, homocysteine)

Chronic Disease Monitoring

For patients who need regular lab monitoring, mobile blood draw eliminates the recurring hassle of repeat lab visits:

  • Diabetes management (A1C, fasting glucose, insulin)

  • Heart disease monitoring (lipids, cardiac markers, BNP)

  • Kidney function (creatinine, BUN, GFR)

  • Liver function (ALT, AST, bilirubin)

  • Autoimmune condition tracking (ANA, rheumatoid factor, anti-dsDNA)

  • PT/INR for patients on anticoagulants like warfarin

Specialty and Research Lab Kits

We're experienced in handling specialty kits from labs including Vibrant America, Genova Diagnostics, SpectraCell, DUTCH (hormone), and others. These often require specific collection protocols, centrifugation, or specialty containers, all handled by our phlebotomists.

What Can't Be Done at Home?

A small number of tests require on-site equipment or immediate processing that isn't compatible with mobile collection:

  • Arterial blood gas (ABG), requires immediate processing

  • Tests requiring continuous patient monitoring during collection

If you have a specific test in mind and aren't sure whether it's compatible with mobile collection, call us at (310) 893-1693 or email support@securedrawmobile.com. We'll let you know before you book.

How It Works

You provide your doctor's lab order, we send a licensed phlebotomist to your location, draw the sample, and deliver it directly to your designated laboratory. Results are reported to your ordering provider through the same channels as any standard lab draw.

Book your at-home blood draw at securedrawmobile.com. Serving Santa Monica, Culver City, Venice, Brentwood, Westwood, and surrounding West LA.
